Simple Ways to Take Good Care Our Environment

It is important to take good care of our environment. We need to urge the government to find ways to implement policies to solve global warming. Also, with our own simple ways, we can contribute on how to care for our environment.
Save Energy - Just look around your house and I'm sure you will find many ways in which you can reduce the amount of energy you are consuming. One significant change you can make is to invest in a programmable thermostat. These devices allow you to program your furnace to heat to a predetermined temperature and shut off at a certain time. You can also adjust the thermostat to a lower temperature while you are sleeping and to heat back up just before you get out of bed
Insulation - Install new door sweeps to help keep cold air out during the winter and keep the cold air in during the summer. Apply weather seals around windows or apply insulating film to act as a barrier to the weather.
Save Gas - Telecommute to work if it is a possibility. If this isn't an option, look in to carpooling with your spouse or with a coworker and save the environment while saving money. Even better.. use public transportation.
Bottled water - Instead of throwing away your water bottle, try reusing it over and over. Empty water bottles are becoming an epidemic. Drink water from the tap!
Conserve water - Install aerators on your faucets and a reduced flow showerhead to save water and reduce your heating needs. Verify that the seals on your toilet are functioning properly. If these seals fail water may continually leak into the toilet. You can check your seals by putting a few drops of food coloring into the tank of your toilet. Come back and check the water color in the toilet after about an hour. If the water color has changed you know that you have a problem.
Change your light bulbs - Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs. These lights may cost more but they use 1/4 of the electricity of standard light bulbs and last several years longer.
Segregate your garbage - It is important to segregate our wastes at home and never to burn plastics because it contributes to the depletion of the ozone layer.

We should take good care of our environment because we’ll never know when Mother Nature strikes back.
